He's not the Vinnie of sax.
He's Michael Brecker and he's in need of help.
If anything....Vinnie is the MB of the drums, but in my opinion I wouldn't go that far. In my opinion, Mike is the second coming of Coltrane. Vinnie is brilliant, but not as influencial in jazz as someone like Coltrane or Brecker. In fact very few jazz drummers know what Vinnie sounds like(ie Lewis Nash, Kenny Washington, Matt Wilson). Where as every jazz saxophonist knows Brecker.
But anyhow...this is about Mike. And I hope everything turns out OK.

Correct!! This thread IS about Mike. Not about your hate for Vince. Your such a dick.
I went down to get tested and see if I could help Michael. Kaiser offers it for free. Being an ex-jew myself, I was hoping my I would be a match since I'm of Sephardic (Spanish) backround and Mike is of European (Ashkenaz) backrounds. I'm not sure if my HLA- A, -B, and -DRB1 Antigens are a match for Mikes, but nonetheless, I'm on the registry now.

Mechanic, my friend. You need to wake up and read the posts.
I didn't bring Vinnies name into this. Someone said Brecker is the Vinnie of the sax. Sorry. No he's not. That's all I was saying. Brecker is a grammy award winning legend of music as a leader and sideman. Vinnie is one of the best sideman drummers the world has seen. It's a lot different.
I WAS RESPONDING TO SOMEONE'S POST.
And I don't hate V.C or any other drummer. I'm just real. I know exactly what all these musicians have done and what they have contributed to music as a whole. I'm not going to allow one of the most brilliant musicians/composers/saxophonist this world has seen since Trane who's now very sick, to be called the Vinnie of the sax. That's just off. I'm not being a dick, Im being honest and real. Deal with it without getting insulted and turning into a 12 year old.

What is more moronic than this little arguement on Breckers Health thread, is comments like Don's. Go away?
We are discussing Michael Breckers in chance that maybe someone on this board meets the criteria to donate. Then a young person(has to be young) states that Michael Brecker is Vinnie Colaiuta of the saxophone. Why? What went wrong inside your brain to have you state this in a thread about someone's health? Well it happened.
So Rob is at fault for not agreeing? Someone help me understand.
Are you going to say that Miles Davis is the Philly Jo Jones of the trumpet? It was a ridiculous statement, and Rob called him on it.
Is that not what forums are about? Don? What's this "go away" nonsense? Be a nice man. Musical facts are just that.

Go away, Leukemia!
One of my buddies has submitted some blood samples to the red cross, he's a polish related Jew, so Hope that might give them something to work on, he's currently recommending other relatives in doing so!
I hope anyone in here with Jewish Genes, would put in the effort in supporting Brecker!'
Great work Joe! I donate blood anually, it takes no time and you get a free beer!

Michael is sick, who cares about if he is the Vinnie of sax.....all that does not matter when someone is as sick as Michael seems to be, He needs support and love, not this childish "My dad is better than your dad mentality" He plays sax and he is good, and also VERY sick right now and it sounds like if he does not get what he needs you might be listening to his old recordings and not the man in person. That is the bottom line and that is why I stated GO away.
